Buttechno: ZCAPRI

From self-published experiments to an EP on Will Bankhead’s always one step-ahead Trilogy Tapes label last year, Moscow’s Buttechno moved mountains to establish a sound both odd and familiar. On his latest for Zodiac 44, the misfit techno alchemist wakes up Luca Lozano and Johanna Knutsson’s dormant offshoot from its deep slumber with some apposite greasy 4/4 mechanics and off-axis acid drives.

Premiere: Buttechno – Strainn

Moscow-based producer Buttechno returns with ‘Tepliy Stan EP’ for French imprint Public System Recordings, a five-tracker melding the best of his ferocious break-charged techno and featuring a remix from Berceuse Heroique regular Ekman, scheduled for release early June 2016.

When counting the number of acts that work on throwing off the yoke of lazy, unimaginative 4/4 tropes that plague a good lot of the techno-stamped efforts, the name of Russian producer Pavel Milyakov aka Buttechno obviously comes to mind.
