Species of Fishes envelop the expanse for Newtype Rhythms

On top of contributing a mix to our partner radio show Newtype Rhythms, we asked Species of Fishes to have a chat, talking about how the reissue of their 1996 album ‘Trip Trap’ came about, the story behind the beginnings of the project and where they see the landscape of electronic music today.

With Glasgow’s Riverside Festival boasting an unorthodox city centre location and an equally impressive lineup of European techno acts we paid a visit to the festival to see what they could pull off.

Fabric 91: Nina Kraviz

Fabric close out the year with a techno mix from Nina Kraviz. Following on from last year’s DJ Kicks session, it represents a significant A-to-Z journey with a tour through a vibrant and varied landscape. Featuring archive tracks and unreleased moments from her трип label, breath-taking is not a strong enough word to encapsulate it.

With 29 tracks on display, there is little room for showcasing. Instead elements drift in and out over the top of a never faltering kick as it shifts from wooden to throbbing to boxy.
