Farr Festival x Inverted Audio: Into The Woods With David Hasert

David Hasert is a DJ and producer from Cologne. He is also one half of DAMH (Dog Ate My Homework), a collaborative project between himself and Hamburg based musician Ada (Areal Records / Pampa Records).

2014 saw the release of their debut ‘Black Night‘ EP through the Cologne based powerhouse Kompakt, featuring remixes from DJ Koze and Matt Karmil. With ‘Black Night‘, DAMH released one of the classiest house and pop EPs of 2014, polishing their tracks like gems, crafting the record with such finesse that it leaves you begging for more. Their music is a subtle balance between catchy melodies and intricate structures, seductive yet never vulgar.

David’s podcast for Farr Festival was inspired by Burning Man and is very much aimed for the club. Featuring music from Acid Pauli, KiNK, Finnebassen, plus a new track by David Hasert and Francesco Mami, this mix is sure to take you back to the woods.

My studio is currently based above club Reineke Fuchs in Cologne, so it is really useful that I can just go downstairs and check out new music on their Funktion One sound-system. I think this is also the reason why this mix is close to the music that I’m playing in the club. From the very start I get that “club feeling”. It’s really different to my studio mixes.

I discovered some of the tracks whilst I was at Burning Man in 2015. I like the broad range of influences in it, much like the artists that I met out there who are just doing their thing and playing really different music. I also recorded some samples, which I finally arranged together in a song, which is also in the mix – It’s called “Black Rocks”.
