Plex, Bleed, Them at Corsica Studios with Ancient Methods & Hieroglyphic Being

On 7th November Plex and BleeD helm an annual Corsica Studios takeover, this time welcoming THEM into the fold for the first time, taking over ‘The Colombian’ adjacent to the venue for a rare 3-roomed, near 1000 capacity event. Techno music is the order of the day, with three distinct strains brought to life by the three respected and long-running club brands. It’s worth noting that the event commemorates Plex’s 8th year of existence, and BleeD’s 4th.

Plex host Room 1 with a characteristically steely bill, headlined by a DJ set from the inimitable  German maestro, Ancient Methods. Joining them will be gleeful disruptors, Blacknecks, who’ll be making their first (and quite possibly last!?) ever London live appearance.

Freerotation favourite, and the man behind one of the LPs of 2014, ‘Vaudeville’, Inigo Kennedy will be playing one of his transcendent and powerful DJ sets. Power Vacuum boss Bintus will be playing one of his outrageous techno/acid work-outs in the wee small hours, with further support from Donor, Black Amiga (live), Luke Handsfree, James Tec and Skunkrock. The room will be closing at 10am, with a reassuringly chaotic back to back set from the residents from all three rooms bringing down the curtains in style.

BleeD take control of Room 2 this time, after showcasing D’Marc Cantu, Metasplice and DJ Spider in The Colombian last time around. Running until 8am, the main focus will be on the singular talents of Jamal ‘Hieroglyphic Being’ Moss, who will be putting together one of his 3-hour ‘sound collages’, AKA one Hell of a unique DJ set. Nobody has furthered the classic Chicago Music Box template quite like he has, with everything from disco edits, Suicide and Human League rarities, acid-ragers and Plastikman records played backwards (seriously!) thrown into the mix.

A close contemporary of Mr Moss’s, Charles Manier, will be making his first ever UK appearance in the form of a DJ set. We’ll refrain from mentioning his better known monikers – all you need to know is that the Michigan native is one of the progenitors of the Jakbeat sound, which fuses post-punk and new-wave influences with a classic Detroit/Chicago template. Ekoplekz will be even more of a curveball, playing a live set of corroded radiophonics like only he can. BleeD resident Volte-Face closes the room with an extended set of colourful and deeply-involving techno, with former Colony promoter Tengui playing it dark and droney in the ‘warm-up’.

We’re excited to collaborate with London bass-cum-techno monsters THEM for the first time. Heading up their line-up will be the much-lauded Randomer, who’s made waves on Hemlock and, latterly, L.I.E.S with his electro-influenced sound. For the first time in this country, J.Tijn and JoeFarr will go head-to-head for a special joint DJ set, ramping up the BPMs somewhat. Ansome, creator of the South London Analogue Material project will play a live et of fuzzy, feedback-laden and percussive industrial analogue techno. THEM residents Altar and Waterworks complete the bill, and will deliver an eclectic variety of club music to surprise and please.
