Premiere: As Longitude – Blauer Part

Leave your compass and chain behind, this one is for the free minds – those keen to lose their way across intricate structures and mind-expanding sonics without seeking to understand but to feel, not to comprehend but to experience.

As Longitude is the duo comprised of the multi-talented Andrea Noce aka Eva Geist – notably responsible for a couple top-notch releases on French label Macadam Mambo, and Eine Welt’s Laura ODL. Channeling their cosmic energies in an anodyne scenery of proto-tech ambiences and off-kilter analogue digressions, Andrea and Laura offer up a compelling and baroque mishmash of spaced-out industrial and velveteen electronics.

Our pick, the wonderful title-track ‘Blauer Part‘ is an extrasensory hardware meandering blazing with carefully sprinkled harpsichord notes, acidic bass spume and middle eastern music tropes thrown in a boiling cauldron – like the love child of Lully’s turqueries and Tolouse Low Trax slo-mo motorik and rust-eaten industrial. Nicely pinpointed by the press release itself, the “stratospheric magnitude” of As Longitude’s debut effort here proves no short of stupendous.

Blauer Part EP is released via Knekelhuis on 17th March, pre-order a vinyl copy from Bandcamp.
