Premiere: Earl Jeffers – Return To Forever Part 1

Initially known as Chesus, part of the C.R.S.T. quartet and half of the beat-focused Darkhouse Family duo, Che Ahmed enjoyed an impressive upswing dynamic over the last four years as he switched monikers for the Chicago-influenced DJ name of Earl Jeffers, spreading disco-house groovers like wildfire.

Back on Doc Daneeka’s Ten Thousand Yen label after delivering a twisted remix of his ‘What’s It Gonna Be?‘ track last year, Che steps up with ‘Gloria‘, a four-tracker disclosing a vivid gamut of soulful house, sifting mellifluous vocal sampling, drama-charged strings and spluttering breaks with an inch-perfect floor acuteness that seduced the likes of Laurent Garnier, Maya Jane Coles, Kornel Kovacs, John Heckle, Chaos In The CBD and many, many more.

Right in the vein of Nebraska’s recent offerings for Mister Saturday Night, Jeffers’ ‘Return To Forever Part 1‘ breaks the flip in with an incendiary disco-fizzy treat. Skittish drumwork forms the backbone to a heavily-filtered swell of sub-bass bobbing up and down the hardstand whilst tapered strings nicely counterbalance an untiring eddy of raw, unpolished claps. Overwhelming.

Gloria is released via Ten Thousand Yen on June 13th, pre-order a vinyl copy from Juno.
