Premiere: Fugal – Arrival

Secondnature is a Seattle-based techno collective that throws events in clubs and industrial spaces across the city, as well as DIY outdoor parties in the rural Pacific Northwest. They formed their own label in 2016 to showcase the expansive electronics being produced by friends and members, kicking things off with Fugal’s “Oil Panes“, and following that up in 2017 with killer 12″s from Simic and Archivist.

Secondnature resident Fugal recently returned to the imprint for their first release of 2018. “Parallels” EP is said to comprise “four versatile tracks of powerful rhythms and diverse moods” that build on the dense, rain-soaked austerity developed on “Oil Panes”, expanding his sound into more colourful, adventurous territory. With early support from Peter Van Hoesen, Eric Cloutier, Aurora Halal, and Luke Slater, this isn’t one to sleep on.

We’re glad to premiere the closing track from the record “Arrival” – a beautiful piece of minimalism that conjures an superlunary vibe out of the bare essentials: moonlit ambience, vaporous reverb and faintly jazzy chords, all underpinned by a beat that’s effortlessly hypnotic. Subtle, but stunningly effective.

Parallels EP is out now, order a copy from Bandcamp.
