Premiere: La Syncope – Renovatio

After cutting his teeth as an active member of Paris-based collective and label SEML, to which he contributed a couple tracks on the occasion of a pair of VA releases, Maxime Castanet aka La Syncope returns to sign the debut effort of MAÂT, the imprint he just founded alongside Mawimbi’s SSCK and Vox Populi’s lynchpin Tim Karbon.

In addition to being a gifted jazz pianist, Castanet has plenty production skills up his sleeve, as arrayed over the course of these four hip-swaying house jams that form the backbone to the present ‘Al Chameau‘ EP – obviously named after the late jazz legend, Al Jarreau, who left us earlier this year. And it’s safe to say the vibe is well funky indeed.

Not the most floor-friendly cut of the package but definitely the most emotional, our premiere ‘Renovatio‘ makes for an hypnotic wayfaring through wide-scope views of intergalactic landscapes and lavish sonic shadings, delving into the finest of otherworldly kosmische synths, prancing jazz and soothing ambient to lift you out of the down-to-earth chaos with featherweight lightness. Time to sail off.
