Premiere: Ladan – Spectres

Joining the gloomy realms of nocturnal and frantic deep techno, Italian imprint Sublunar was conceived earlier this year by Dagdrom and Ilian Tape affiliate Sciahri. Following three releases from the latter, today the imprint releases the debut EP from Iranian producer Ladan.

Ladan is the moniker of a mysterious female producer, discovered by Sciahri whilst travelling in Iran. Due to the particular cultural context of Iran, the producers details cannot be unveiled, nevertheless an introspective and sharp personality oozes from her debut release: ranging from bass-driving techno to sharp excursions, the five track EP recalls some of Stroboscopic Artefacts and Prologue’s outputs.

Our premiere ‘Spectres‘ unveils Ladan’s illusive side. Echoed grainy textures bestow the track with depth whilst fast-paced metallic sounds slice the rhythm. A hissing interlude of dilated kicks adds suspense before all elements align: deep bass paves the path of premonitory melodies, continuously shifting their tone to intensify the claustrophobic yet hypnotising essence of the track.
