Premiere: Lujiachi – Red Desert

A dependable provider of boundary-pushing electronics and off-axis dancefloor weaponry, Aussie imprint Altered States Tapes has been maintaining the pressure level to the max season after season. Fresh off a couple solid instalments courtesy of Hitoshi Kojima, Sansibar and Opal Beau, the label hailing from the “bottom of the Earth” – as they like to situate, introduce Taiwanese producer Lujiachi with ‘Invisible Hands‘, his second offering after a self-released debut in 2015.

A rising voice in Taipei’s underground scene, Lujiachi was recommended to Altered States’ honcho Cooper Bowman by his friend Simon (Opal Beau), who’s moved to the Asian metropolis a couple years ago, and everyone should soon thank him for the salutary heads up.

Lifted from this lead-footed package geared towards plunging the club into numbing stupor, we’re glad to present the tribal-tech opener ‘Red Desert‘ – a slow-burning percussive workout better tasted played out in circles of fire as you walk down a trail of red-hot embers. Never quite releasing its grip, the essentially primitive pulse of the track blazes up and hypnotises, bar after bar, blow after blow, whilst the listener can not but surrender to this shamanic trance beat.

Invisible Hands is released via Altered States Tapes on 25th April, pre-order a tape copy from the label’s webshop, or a digital copy from Bandcamp.
