Premiere: Simo Cell – Obi 1

It has been over a year since Simo Cell released his debut 2-track 12″ for Livity Sound’s sister-label Dnuos Ytivil. Since then Simon Aussel contributed a track to Widom Teeths split EP featuring Alex Coulton and Chevel and has featured on Rinse, NTS and Radar Radio. His “Dancefloor killer no filler” performance at Berlin Atonal was a true highlight of the festival.

Simo Cell now steps up to deliver his first extended player for Peverelist’s mighty Livity Sound imprint, scheduled for release 4th November 2016. ‘Gliding‘ EP rolls out four tracks of stripped-down Bristol techno, seeing the producer get deeper in his hybrid sound explorations and what he defines as “psychedelic music for clubs”.

Our pick, ‘Obi 1′, presents a solid minimalistic structure. A stumbling bassy kick is seasoned with incisive sounds hinging on their echoes. Buzzing synths interlace with porous flares in the frame of cavernous reverberations, enhancing the rhythm whilst keeping the tonalities balanced. Murky spiralling laments bestow the track with a thriller sci-fi halo that won’t fail at raising goose flesh.

‘Gliding’ will be released via Livity Sound on 4th November 2016. Pre-order your copy on Bandcamp
