Indigo: Zero Points EP

Brand new to ‘On the Edge’, a sub-label of Z-Audio distribution is Indigo’s ‘Zero Point EP’. Heralding from Manchester Liam Indigo has spent the last few years refining an already skilful production style. His textured tracks are intricate and intuitive, exploring new soundscapes that keep the listener well tuned to the music. Indigo’s talent shines through a diversity of influences displayed in productions, skipping through genre’s like 2 – Step, Techno, Dub & Grime with relative ease.

His own label ‘Mindset‘ Has seen 7 releases since 2008, with heavy weight tracks signed from the likes of 16bit & XxXy, amoungst others. Since setting up Mindset, Indigo has sprung into the limelight, putting out a string of releases in 2009 on ‘Open Earz Recordings‘, ‘Smokin’ Session’s’ and a previous outing on ‘On The Edge’.

The EP contains 8 tracks, 6 original works and 2 remix’s by another Manchester heavy weight and partner in crime, Synkro. Both have been touring together the last 12 months, smashing Dancefloors from San Francisco to London.

It is safe to say this producer is not afraid to experiment, veering away from formulaic structure’s, the listener feels as though each track is a short journeey to be travelled. The title track ‘Zero Point’ ft. Poppy Roberts is a minimal D&B number, similar to what has been heard of dBridge, Instrumental & the Autonomic label. Other tracks of notable worth are ‘Creep’, a meditative style Dubstep track on par with outings by Pinch and Mala, and ‘Event B’ a techno-induced roller with fast moving hi-hats and monstrous sub-bass. The EP as a whole is very impressive.
