No matter where you live, the shocking news of the fire that devastated Ghostship, an artist collective workspace in Oakland, USA on Friday 2nd December, during a showcase of our beloved friends from 100% Silk, has left us deeply shocked.
Not only have the lives of many fellow dancers and musicians been taken by the flames, it also leaves survivors of the tragedy consisting of friends and families of the deceased that have to deal with the repercussions of this event. With a death toll currently standing at 36 people confirmed, it is sadly expected to rise even more. It’s time to show your support and give back to a scene that keeps enlightening our path on a daily basis.
A fire relief fund has been set up through the crowdfunding site YouCaring, where you can donate as much as you want.
“We are working with the Oakland Mayor’s Office, The Red Cross and other fundraisers to be the main fund for this effort. We will work to use the Red Cross’ knowledge of the appropriate format for distribution of these funds. We are working every minute to figure this out. Please keep sharing and donating.”
