Athen’s Echovolt Records has been around for near a decade but its output remains that of a bright eyed and bushy tailed structure, eager to establish new talents in line with their inclination for “unusual, quirky, deep and atmospheric electronic music“. Fresh off a solid release courtesy of Angelo Ioakimoglu under his Starcount moniker a few months ago, the label resurfaces this summer with the debut offering from Naff Recordings’ co-founder Priori, ‘Noogenesis EP‘, due out briefly.
Lifted from this warm and cozy slice of solar-powered grooves, we’re glad to share the title-track with you today. A 8-minute-odd piece of synth-y brilliance draped in the lushest of sub-tropical ambient folds, faux organic lushness and satiny textures, ‘Noogenesis‘ weaves a singularly peaceful harmony out of shimmering piano chords, brittle chimes and ethereal, blurred-out pads.
With this “attempt to ring mod the sun and the sea” as he puts it, the Montreal producer’s first try hits the nail on the head right away. It also does confirm both Echovolt and Naff Rec. as some of the best platforms when it comes to sheltering the very essence of reason-endowed dance music.
