Marking their fifth release, New York-based imprint Artificial Owl gear up to issue the 6-track extended player ‘Diskordant‘ from collaborative duo A_A – a live performance project by Satoshi Tomiie and Nao Gunji.
After countless tours with Ryuichi Sakamoto and releases on Kerri Chandler’s output Kaoz Theory, Japanese producer Satoshi Tomiie joins forces with Nao Gunji to deliver six tracks of unconstrained arrangements unleashing a distinctive patchwork of spatial experimental, avant-garde and dub techno.
Our pick is ‘Radiant I‘ – a 117 BPM free-spirited dub techno track delving into a below-grounded network of steamy pipelines under the bustling streets of Manhattan. With its dubbed-out rhythms and sluggish soundscapes enhanced by far-out human echoes, ‘Radiant I‘ sounds like a thrilling voyage in which the duo turn back the annals of time.
