The Ukrainian radio station Gasoline, whose mission is to “disseminate Ukrainian culture and bring together artists, DJ’s and activists in Kyiv and beyond,” marks the launch of a new endeavour with Gasoline Records.
The inaugural release is from Maksym Merkulov, who records as Whaler. As the world anxiously watches another crisis unfold in Ukraine, ’26 04′ is released in conjunction with the 37th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. The five tracks present “a haunting soundscape filled with the hum of reactors, the crackling of dosimeters, and the chatter of internal communication systems.”
As ’26 04′ is being unveiled to the world, the label looks to release new and archival material “that remain unheard but hold significant value,” including a reissue from one of their DJs, Macka.
’26 04′ is out now via Gasoline Records. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
