Succeeding the ‘Our Forgotten Ancestors’ release from Massimo Pupillo in October 2023, Rome-based imprint Glacial Movements return with the two-track ‘Pithovirii‘ EP – courtesy of Toronto-born multi-instrumentalist Aidan Baker.
After appearing on the first compilation of Glacial Movements in 2013, Aidan Baker returns with ‘Pithovirii,’ a dense piece of meditative lullabies, obscure ambient, and piercing experimental. Aidan Baker tells the story of forgotten sun-shaped worshippers buried beneath the earth’s crust after the Tunguska meteor explosion in 1908.
Our pick for the premiere is ‘Massiliensis‘ – a liquescent symphony decrying the harmful behavior of empty-headed mortals entertained by luxurious cocktails on artificial beaches cooled by Arctic ice cubes. A polar bear plunge would not be complete without its multilayered FX pedals floating freely throughout the stratosphere.
