Nearly three years after its inception, Padua-based imprint Wetware Echo and Falsehood Union return with ‘Ghostform‘, the latest transmission from co-founder and local alchemist Coeden.
A shape-shifter in the ever-mutating realm of dub-inflected sound design, Coeden has left his mark across cutting-edge outposts like Entangled Visions, Natural Sciences and Prehistoric Silence. With ‘Ghostform‘, he plunges headfirst into a phantasmagorical collision of dystopian ambient, post-dubstep abstraction and leftfield surrealism – a 10-track labyrinth where echoes of forgotten frequencies reverberate through club fuelled entropy.
Our pick from the album, ‘Slow Ray’, creeps into existence with noise-cloaked kick-drums submerged in a maze of cavernous textures. As the tension builds, Coeden summons EBM’s machine-funk heritage, twisting its rhythmic DNA into something raw. The track’s 117 BPM mechanical chug unfurls like a slow-motion dance of some post-human ritual, laser-lit signals flickering in the periphery. Equal parts hypnotic and unhinged, it’s a procession of synthetic spirits marching through the ruins of a past that never was.
‘Ghostform’ is scheduled for release on 24th February via Wetware Echo Records. Order a cassette copy from Bandcamp.
