The Warehouse Project unveil WHP19 and 10,000 capacity venue ‘The Depot’

If the city is already known to shelter an effervescing scene and a bunch of high-quality venues, Manchester prepares to turn up a notch this Autumn with The Warehouse Project’s latest endeavour. Putting on a very special series of events gathering some of today’s most in-demand artists, each of them world-famed figures in their own category, WHP’s goal is simple: turn a 10,000-capacity Depot from downtown Manchester, situated right next to Piccadilly Station, into the very epicentre of dance music for seven nights of utter insanity.

Figuring prominently in WHP’s mouthwatering first wave of announcement, Aphex Twin will step up for one of his much sought-after live performances, sure to teleport the dance floor into one of the many outlandish dimensions he claims dominion upon. For the past thirty years, Richard D. James has been pushing electronic music into uncharted territories, mapping a world of his own far away from the usual norms and standards. Genius at the controls.

Other artists locked in to headline the seven-part event series include Grime superstar Skepta, British house duo Disclosure, unrelenting 4/4 maestra Nina Kraviz, drum and bass outfit Chase & Status and minimal tech manipulator Marco Carola.

Giving further insight into their new venture, WHP co-founder, Sam Kandel says: “What’s happening down at Mayfield with the launch of the Depot venue is a huge moment for the whole of Manchester. There are a huge number of people and various different institutions and networks working in true collaboration to make this a reality. We are so grateful that WHP can play its part. After nearly ten years of pushing and pulling to make this place base camp for WHP it’s finally happening. We can’t wait.”

About the place; The Depot is a disused railway depot abandoned since 1960. Transformed into a large, multi-faceted venue fully dedicated to free-minded recreation and dance floor communion, the space will offer The Warehouse Project an ideal setting and much fitting home to their ambitious next moves.

Tickets go on sale 09:00 BST on Thursday 27 June 2019.
