Field Records mark 15 Year Anniversary with vinyl edition of Monolake ‘Hongkong’

First released in 1997 on Basic Channel sub-label Chain Reaction, Robert Henke and Gerhard Behles debut collaborative album as Monolake is being released on vinyl for the first time, courtesy of Field Records.

Launched in 2008 with a series of various artist EP’s, Field Records have gone on to release countless high profile works from visionary producers including; Imaginary Softwoods, Sugai Ken, ENA, Scott Monteith (aka Deadbeat), Staffan Linzatti, Isorinne, Szare, Delta Funktionen and D.Å.R.F.D.H.S. Now embarking on their 15 year anniversary, Field Records prepare to unleash a fully remastered double vinyl edition of ‘Hongkong, composed whilst Robert Henke and Gerhard Behles were studying computer science.

As stated in the press release, in 1996, Henke and Behles travelled to Hong Kong to attend the annual International Computer Music Conference, which resulted in the capturing of field recordings that eventually became the glue that pieced together their collaborative tracks into a fluid listening experience for a CD-compilation on Chain Reaction.

To mark the occasion, today we present the premiere of ‘Index‘ – a propulsive dub techno chugger that extends over 10 minutes. This one dives deep into sub-aquatic wormhole territories and remains as fresh sounding as it did 26 years ago.

‘Hongkong’ LP is scheduled for release on 26 May. Order a vinyl copy from Inverted Audio Store.
