A much able and refreshingly inspired new talent of the deep house scene, having broken through to wider recognition last year with his second album for the ever trustworthy Church, London-via-Istanbul based producer Alex Lawrence, alias Aleksandir, returns with his first EP for his 2017-formed label, Artesian Sounds.
Trading some of the naive indolence of his first releases, although maintaining the silk-smoothness of his sound design intact, ‘ARS003‘ finds Lawrence exploring more openly rhythmic grounds, as he expands his sound palette to elements of electro, breaks and vocals, as can be heard on our premiere ‘Gaseous Love‘.
Splendidly lush, Aleksandir’s closer blends a sturdy, swift-flowing bassline with a playful array of jazzy drums, shuffling hats and dreamy piano stabs, above which beds of vaporous vox samples and pastel pads hover in cloud-like formations. Lawrence’s music, coloured and ethereal to the fullest, breezes with the fluidness of pure spirit and we’re in for a much elegant, weightless trip high up in the sky.
ARS003 is released via Artesian Sounds on 5th July, pre-order a copy from Bandcamp.
