Italian ambient and experimental record label Glacial Movements gear up to release their debut album from mysterious producer Ark Zead.
Shrouded in mystery, Ark Zead is said to be a gong and Tibetan singing bowls player. ‘Niptaktut‘ explores sub-zero melodies broadcasted from frozen landscapes and hyperborean spirits resulting in 7-tracks of supreme meditation, accompanied by Lia Bosch’s monochrome vision of misty territories.
“I felt inspired when I faced the very hostile cold in Canada. I looked for stories about exploring these lands and the people who live there. I then modified my vibe sounds with computers and synthesizers to describe the state of isolationism you have to reach to enjoy the beauty of the true North.”
Our pick from the album is ‘Iglu‘ – an 8-minute odyssey of dark ambient and FX-drenched frequencies, invoking the gradual melting of a calving iceberg into emerald waters and its disappearance from the universe.
‘Niptaktuk’ LP is scheduled for release on 12th July via Glacial Movements. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
