Emerging from the fertile soil between Tunisia and Berlin, Positive Reaction present their second compilation ‘+R002′. Not merely an imprint, but a cultural portal, the label carves a path through the dense foliage of global dancefloor cuts, connecting North Africa’s underexposed brilliance with the visceral pulse of Europe’s club heritage.
Across six tracks, shimmering techno rubs up against gnarled electro breakdowns and breakbeat-laced rhythms that could crack a concrete floor. From peak-time paranoia to sunrise introspection, the compilation features contributions that feel at once archival and hypermodern. Each artist threads their own dialect into a shared rave grammar, pushing the nostalgic energy of the golden era into uncharted spirals of tension and release.
Our pick, BENKHLIFA’s ‘Kyzyl’, arrives like an encrypted transmission from a rave in orbit. Named after the windswept city in southern Kazakhstan, the track coils through a glitched-out dreamscape where trance skitters over scorched-earth bass. Searing synths hover like drones on the edge of collapse, while the melody flashes in and out of signal like a memory refusing to fade. BENKHLIFA orchestrates the chaos with uncanny restraint, channeling a dark anaesthesia that conjures both the isolation of desert silence and the communion of a packed dancefloor.
‘+R002‘ is scheduled for release 30th May via Positive Reaction. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
