Following up ‘Subliminar‘ EP from BLEID last month, Lisbon-based record label Discos Extendes join forces with Lovers & Lollypops for their forthcoming extended player ‘Oferendas‘.
Spanning six tracks, ‘Oferendas‘ EP showcases Portugal’s finest polyrhythm shufflers with three off-kilter tracks from Lisbon-based producer Serpente alongside Kelly Jayne Jones and Maxwell Sterling on Side A and CZN on the flip side, a production trio consisting of Porto-based sound sculptor João Pais Filipe, Leon Marks and experimental drummer Valentina Magaletti.
Our pick is ‘It’s Always Aperitivo Hour Somewhere’ by CZN. With a 130 BPM dubbed-out stepper infused with kinetic polyrhythms, reminiscent of dazed-out drumming rituals conducted in the West African highlands, ultra-filtered soundscapes and underwater echoes, CZN delivers a high-spirited rhythm experience that will linger in our minds for years to come.
