Two years since their inaugural release, American record label Rocky Hill prepare to release ‘Synthetic Instincts‘ LP from label head honcho Darone Sassounian.
After a distinctive curatorial venture with ‘Silk Road: Journey of the Armenian Diaspora (1971 – 1982)’ on Miami-based record label Terrestrial Funk, Darone Sassounian emerges with his debut full-length album ‘Synthetic Instincts‘. This work delves into the uncharted realms of deep house, adorned with eerie underwater melodies and rich sample-based gems.
Our pick from the album is ‘Synthetic Instincts‘. Launching with celestial, soul fuelled samples and irresistible disco-funk grooves, Sassounian delivers a constellation of navel-gazing synths, evoking the high-spirited aesthetics of the Detroit sound. As it reaches a crescendo of intricately arranged hi-hats and bouncy basslines, the producer beckons listeners to surrender to the exuberance of the rhythm.
