After a 3-year hiatus marked by personal loss and a confrontation with the surreal edges of existence, DEFSET emerges with his long-awaited sophomore album ‘OK, Accept, Continue’ on London-based record label EMK.
Expanding on the sonic terrain explored in his previous collaborations with EMK, the album propels the audience into a liminal space where the echoes of human empathy reverberate through the corridors of collective memory. Rooted in a sense of profound introspection, the work navigates the undulating currents of dub techno, blending jagged textures of cybernetic breaks and the ethereal allure of modular mysticism.
Our pick from the album is ‘Glitterforce‘ – a labyrinth of modular oscillations, where the pulse of machine-driven humanity reverberates within the synaptic gaps of a manufactured mind. The piece unfurls with ethereal, elongated ambient textures, evoking the sensation of fragmented memories floating through the digital ether, encoded in the very strands of post-human DNA.
As the journey unfolds, soundscapes grow into a polyphony of interlaced oscillations, punctuated by disembodied vocals that seem to echo across vast temporal distances and deconstructed breaks that implode and reform in a ceaseless, cerebral dance. The track crescendos into a fragment of life’s wisdom — captured in the heart of West Africa, grounding the machine-bound narrative in something deeply visceral and human.
‘OK, Accept, Continue’ is scheduled for release 15 November via EMK. Order a vinyl copy from Bandcamp.
