Sometimes transport to a far-off land is necessary – especially during the times we currently occupy. Enter Despina, a New York-via-New Jersey producer who is taking a crack at taking listeners to another dimension with today’s premiere.
Releasing on the burgeoning Kindergarten Records alongside label-heads Ma Sha Ru, Despina upends the club spectrum with ‘Crash Blossoms’, a delightfully detached banger for these times on the forthcoming ‘Polychronia’ EP.
Starting off with a swirl of internalised energy, the track builds with a loop that relishes its sub-frequencies whilst finding room to experiment at each turn and phrase. A new synth, a new warble, a new viewpoint that builds the track consistently into something truly otherworldly, leading to a boiling point that enraptures the listener by comfortably nestling itself into their subconscious. Get ready to have this on repeat when you take a listen down below.
‘Polychronia’ is scheduled for release 5 June via Kindergarten. Order a copy on Bandcamp.
