Premiere: Eddie Merced – Spooks 101

To coincide with the release of Eddie MercedSpies In Berlin‘ EP on American label R4808n Recordings, today we focus on the final track ‘Spooks 101‘ – a sizzling low-slung voyager for deep house heads.

Based out of Hartford in Connecticut, Eddie Merced has released a string of releases on labels including Berlin’s Upon You Records, French imprint Metrohm and Marco Bailey’s MB Elektronics. Following in the wake of his ‘A Brooklyn Woman‘ EP in 2022, Merced returns to his own imprint to self-release his latest EP.

Primed for smokey dance floor action, ‘Spies In Berlin’ delivers three pumping tracks, sprinkled with acid and shuffling Detroit house vibes. Our pick from the release delivers a brooding deep beat bolstered with immersive synths, shuffling hi-hats and slick drum work. Sounding much akin to the woozy sounds of acclaimed deep house producer Anton Zap.

‘Spies In Berlin’ EP is scheduled for release on 26 May via R4808n Recordings. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
