Premiere: Giuseppe Leonardi – Suzi Wong

Succeeding ‘OK‘ EP from While My Sequencer Gently Bleeps, Unsure prepares to release the short-length 12-inch ‘7‘ from Vienna-based multi-instrumentalist Giuseppe Leonardi.

After a 4-year hiatus and a set of previously acclaimed releases on Music From Memory’s sub-label Second Circle, Leonardi returns with his ultra-anticipated EP consisting of seven blissful compositions, sweeping listeners into monumental peaks of mutant disco, oddball dub rhythms, leftfield house and uplifting synth-kraut.

Our pick is ‘Suzi Wong‘ – a 60 BPM deviant disco dub jam inspired by the late 50s Hong Kong love affair ‘The World Of Suzie Wong‘, written by Richard Mason. With its dubbed-out rhythms and a cascade of quirky synthesizers enhanced by graceful yet compelling vocals, ‘Suzi Wong‘ sounds like a serendipitous encounter in the vertical city twisted with Leonardi’s Vienna-style signature.

‘7’ EP is scheduled for release on 28th June via Unsure. Order a vinyl copy from Juno.
