Premiere: Sordid Sound System – I Dream Of Electric Sheep

Lausanne-based record label Special Place gear up to release ‘I Dream of Electric Sheep’, the latest offering from Scottish-born, now California-based producer and sound engineer, Sordid Sound System.

Known for immersive releases on labels including Glasgow’s Invisible Inc and Höga Nord, the producer returns with a captivating four-tracker that channels the essence of Balearic escapism, drenched in the warmth of sun-kissed, late-night grooves.

On ‘I Dream of Electric Sheep’, the producer crafts a modern reimagining of 1980s dancefloor moments, intertwining hazy, dub-infused disco with expansive, cinematic textures. Enlisting Ripperton as his guest of choice, Sordid delves into the realms of dusky euphoria across the EP’s four cuts.

Our pick ‘I Dream of Electric Sheep’ opens with a cascade of arpeggios with shimmering edges fluttering against a thick sea of delayed frequencies, luring the audience into a trance-like state. It evokes the sensation of drifting through the intoxicating haze of an Ibiza night, where time and space seem to fold into one another. A storm of percussion, subtly swung bass and intricate guitar fragments dance around haunting, dark disco reverberations, conjuring a world both otherworldly and intimately familiar.

‘I Dream of Electric Sheep’ EP is scheduled for release on 6th December via Special Place. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
