Premiere: St. Amp – Lyra Pad (Will Hofbauer’s Lycra Mix)

Dublin-based imprint Reasons To Dance prepare to release ‘Lyra Pad‘ from London-based producer St. Amp.

Following previous contributions to Sputnik One’s N-Face imprint and Reasons To Dance’s compilation, St. Amp marks his debut release with ‘Lyra Pad‘, a captivating EP featuring a remix from Australian producer and Third Place label boss Will Hofbauer.

Spanning five tracks, St. Amp carves a vibrant soundscape, weaving through playful, rhythmically fractured gardens where broken beat blossoms intertwine with the percussive grooves of UK funky and the undulating swing of bass-heavy breaks. The result is a mischievous, yet precisely calibrated exploration of movement, where each beat feels as though it’s perpetually on the cusp of turning into something unexpected.

Our premiere pick is Will Hofbauer’s reimagining of ‘Lyra Pad‘, a 5-minute cruise gliding through shimmering avenues of digital harps, seamlessly blending in a carnival of Reggaeton influenced drum patterns and bubbling soundscapes. The track evokes the image of glinting conkers scattered across barren land, where the interplay of rhythmic tension and atmospheric depth creates a beguiling sense of both movement and stillness. With its ethereal yet grounded qualities, this version is a must-listen for fans of the slow-mo pulse of RAMZi and DJ Python.

‘Lyra Pad’ EP is scheduled for release on 22 November via Reasons To Dance. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
