UK-based canal boat turned floating record store Rubber Ducky Records has suffered the most tragic of events this week by sinking, resulting in the loss of and severe water damage of equipment, engine and stock.
Launched in October 2022, Rubber Ducky Records is the brainchild of Myles Greenwood. Docked at Sowerby Bridge in West Yorkshire, the 28ft canal boat has gained extensive support throughout the electronic music community for their novel approach to selling records. Myles Greenwood shared a post to Instagram stating:
“This is still very surreal. Sadly heading into Manchester my propellor got caught on a rug / mattress and it broke my stern gland sinking the boat. Managed to save 3/4 boxes of records but the rest of stock & equipment was submerged.
After a rescue mission draining the canal we got her back floating and with the kindness of friends and strangers pulled her by rope a few locks down the canal to safety. I decided not to go down with the ship but the damage is pretty bad so I don’t know when I’ll be up and running again. But don’t worry I haven’t given up!”
Fortunately you can now help fundraise for Myles to get things back in order and help raise cash for a full refit inside, new engine, new stock and new equipment.
