Paris-based NAHAL Recordings and ZamZamRec prepare to release ‘Voltæ (Chthulucene)’ LP from FOUDRE! – the French production trio consisting of Frédéric D. Oberland, Romain Barbot and Paul Régimbeau.
‘Voltæ (Chthulucene)’ marks a seminal moment in FOUDRE!’s discography, delivering eight tracks of unadulterated psychedelia on their inaugural studio album. This release seamlessly intertwines post-punk sensibilities, avant-garde electronica and worldwide mystic grooves, crafting a visionary soundscape that positions them between the likes of Anatolian Weapons, Autechre and Haruomi Hosono.
With a synthesis of gemstones, verdant flora and stark lighting, director Grégoire Orio delivers a pulsating spectacle that melds sci-fi and earthly memories into a spine-chilling auditory experience. Grégoire Orio shares:
“With this project, I wanted to visually capture the energy and cohesion of FOUDRE!, both in their artistic approach and their human dynamic. To create an immersive experience where light plays a central role, revealing the group’s visual universe through the use of machines, improvisation, and the human intensity deployed during their live performances. This exploration seeks to present this collective energy as a ritual, evoking both a fire that blazes collectively and the suggestion of dystopian codes of our contemporary societies, hinting at a dichotomous future in terms of visual intensity. Is this brightness not a form of blindness? I thus wish to explore the hypnotic relationship between music and light, creating an all-encompassing sensory and aesthetic experience, imbued with the reminiscences of nocturnal urban landscapes.”
