FUR AKA Bryce Isbell produces the type of music you’d expect to hear if ‘Washed Out’ and ‘Toro Y Moi’ remixed Boards of Canada. Unfortunately FUR’s music is tied to that annoying genre term ‘Chillwave’, whatever that means?
Bryce is from Denton, Texas, a stones throw away from Alan Palomo AKA Neon Indian who’s signed to Lefse Records. I assume they know each other well and they’re likely to spend hours together exchanging dusty lo-fi cassette tapes and cross referencing their musical productions skills.
His music does operate at the dancier end of the chillwave spectrum, almost a hybrid of ambient techno except that in Fur’s case it’s lo-fi.
Bryce had big plans to do a big movie and music mashup list… he ended up making a list of his top five favorite releases in 2010 as well as providing us with a Solar Bears remix of his excellent track ‘Clears Throat’, find it in the player and enjoy.
