Hessle Audio X Cómeme Records at Village Underground

On Friday 11th September Village Underground bring an all-star Hessle AudioCómeme lineup to the Shoreditch based club for an evening of multi-faceted dance music.

Hessle Audio should need little introduction to the avid Inverted Audio reader. Label founders Ben UFO, Pangaea and Pearson Sound have been instrumental in shaping the UK’s musical landscape since the label launched in 2007. Hessle has evolved over a short period of time to become a pinnacle for electronic music in the UK, breaking acts such as Blawan, Joe and Bandshell, Hessle have significantly redefined the sound of dubstep, bass, funky and grime – plus a wider array of house, techno and experimental sounds from across the globe.

Matias Aguayo’s Cómeme imprint describe themselves as ‘An outsider’s dance music label and their signature sound sure works a forward-thinking, uncompromising vein. Cologne based producer Lena Willikens released her experimental techno ‘Panton Delia EP’ earlier this year and since then, she’s been building her reputation for a shape-shifting proto-techno style moving astride jacking spirits and industrial boogie onto synthesized disco and raw house with undeniable ease.

Cómeme’s DJ Borusiade completes the lineup. Hailing from Bucharest, Romania, Borusiade started DJ-ing in 2002 as one of the only female DJs in the city’s emerging alternative clubbing scene. Her DJ sets combine audacious and obscure audio scapes, melding Acid-tinted House, Dark Disco and Minimal Wave with an ever irresistible groove-science. The sound is gloomy and powerful, deep and precise, unfurling the kind of beats that touch one’s deepest senses on the dance floor.
