Newtype Rhythms is back for another year of electronic exploratory missions – finding diamonds within the underground and unearthing sounds yearning to be heard on sound system’s (and headphones) all across the cosmos.
Such a diamond is the first guest mix of 2021; courtesy of burgeoning Brussels-based talent Le Motel, fresh off their latest ‘Pots & Pans‘ EP for Portuguese label XXIII – a four-tracker that picks up the energy by melding bits of dubstep, dub techno, jungle and UK garage in a concise, carefully-constructed sonic journey.
The natural progression of genre elements that boldly presents itself on his EP is evident in droves in his guest mix for our sister series – weaving together bass-heavy UK heft with hyperkinetic crushers from Kenya and Uganda. Check out the absolutely blistering mix from Le Motel at 46 minutes in, with resident Sheepshead warming things up per usual.
