This week’s deep dive into the cosmos for Newtype Rhythms features a special guest mix from Parisian musical bon-vivant Teki Latex. A selector extraordinaire whose reputation for memorable club sets have stuck around for the better part of a decade.
Fresh off a stirring closing set at Unsound 2017, the “King of Blends” had a moment during a brief visit in rain-soaked New York City to come in and deliver a mix that defied all expectations for the 30th entry into our sister mix series. With tracks ranging from bits of French hip-hop, to bass mutations from Errorsmith and Minor Science, dystopic rave from J-Zbel and even the main theme from Super Mario Odyssey.
Seriously this Teki Latex transmission is worth getting nice and loose in the airlock for. Latex’s mix starts at around 51 minutes in, with resident Sheepshead provides a industrial yet funky showing with tracks from Ansome, Batu, Breach, Forest Drive West and an old doozy from Modeselektor.
