Lusine lines up ‘Long Light’ LP on Ghostly International

Jeff McIlwain, better known as Lusine, returns to Ghostly International in September with the release of his twelfth album ‘Long Light‘.

Since his debut in 1999 on legendary Miami imprint Isophlux (home to Gosub and Jimmy Edgar), the output of Lusine has been an honest, refreshing extrapolation of Detroit and UK techno, IDM, and vocal elements; evolving over time with the advent of sub-genres (i.e. – micro-house, minimal techno) that populated the stream of sonic consciousness. His fabled albums ‘Serial Hodgepodge‘ (2004), ‘Podgelism‘ (2007), ‘Language Barrier‘ (2007) are well worth checking out.

Six years on from his former album ‘Sensorimotor‘, Lusine returns with his next full length, interweaving his trademark sound and experimenting with pop-infused vocals courtesy of Sarah Jaffe and Vilja Larjosto and Asy Saavedra. Watch the music video for ‘Zero to Sixty (feat. Sarah Jaffe)’ below.

McIlwain sees the title, taken from the lyrical phrase “long light signalling the fall again,” written by Benoît Pioulard for what became the title track, as a guiding device that reflects several meanings. “There’s this sort of paranoia where you don’t know what is real, it’s an age of high anxiety and there are all these distractions,” McIlwain explains. “It’s like a fun house mirror situation.”

‘Long Light’ is scheduled for release on the 15th September via Ghostly International. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
