Newtype Rhythms returns with a heavyweight mix from Regal86

The winds of change arrive wistfully and warmly, as the seasons change – the vibes undoubtedly shift along with them. Considering the circumstances worldwide in-and-out of the dance, this is the most opportune time for a welcome return – and with that our sister mix series Newtype Rhythms is back and bolder than ever.

It’s been a long and winding road of many swerves and pivots sonically, highlighting beloved producers amongst the spaces of ambient, experimental, house techno, bass music and beyond – however; the consistent focus of finding the heartbeat that exudes tomorrow’s future sound has always been prevalent, and that stands to continue in the not-too-distant future.

For a landmark episode such as number 200, our sister series went straight to the source, looking for the sound of tomorrow and the music of today – and landed upon the inimitable Regal86, Mexico’s favorite son for hardgroove, techno and fastidious whimsy. Not far removed from his latest release “Doble Filo” off the Colombian-based imprint Discos Nutabe, the Monterrey-based producer cements himself as a sonic voice that enthuses and emboldens dance music that is boundless; evoking wiles, wistfulness, and a wondrous pull towards exhilaration within his productions.

Even better, he’s just as consistent with his guest mix for Newtype Rhythms – check out his exuberant mix at around 37 minutes, with resident Sheepshead warming things up per usual.
