Premiere: Acid Springfield – Troglodyte

Three months after releasing ‘Capsule‘, Melbourne via Brooklyn-based producer Acid Springfield gears up to issue his new album ‘Primitive Landscapes‘.

Taking us on an immersive voyage through the distant lands of our subconscious, Acid Springfield explores cinematic soundscapes, dub techno, lysergic ambient and lo-fi dream pop. Donning artwork by Berlin-based visual artist Sophie Douala, Acid Springfield provides a collection of machine-made experiments topped off with a psyched-out collaboration on ‘Greenscreen‘ with Disciples regular NAPPYNAPPA.

Our pick from the album is ‘Troglodyte‘. In the sacred mountains of Dandenong, the producer presents a mesmerising downtempo fable that evokes visions of cavemen hunting. As the track opens with rainforest field recordings and digital soundscapes derived from uncanny constellations, it transforms into a space-time hypnosis of ceremonial percussion and a delirium of strange frequencies accompanied by faraway utterances reminiscent of mystical beings.

‘Primitive Landscapes’ EP is scheduled for release on 23rd August. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
