Despite the sad news of the shop’s closure earlier this year, Bass Cadet Records is still alive and for good. Latest sign of the label’s healthiness comes with the US sound-focused subdivision Orbits, which welcomes the great Alton Miller into its fold, after EPs by Ron Trent and Jenifa Mayanja.
Former collaborator of Derrick May and Chez Damier with whom he founded the short-lived but legendary Music Institute in Detroit, Miller has carved out a solid reputation as a producer and percussionist, releasing more than fourty EPs and four long-players on seminal labels including KMS, Planet E, KDJ, Clone, Peacefrog and Sound Signature… amongst many others.
Back with the excellent ‘Orbit 03‘, Miller delivers a compelling slice of solar-powered deep house, urban and organic in equal measure. Streaming in full over our channels today, the vibey ‘With Meaning‘ is sure to light up the most obscure of dancefloors with its iridescent synthlines, infectious groove and rousing drums set to paint the club in the lushest rainbow hues. Feel-good sounds.
Orbit 03 is released via Orbits on 25th September, pre-order a copy from Juno.
