Following the release of Crystal Artefacts in August from Portuguese live duo Fonzo, Indian imprint Qilla Records returns with ‘Shapeshifter‘ – a precision-engineered deep techno release from Delhi-based producer Siddhartha Sharma aka ARTIFVCT.
Spanning six tracks, Sharma distils the intensity of his sound into something sharper, darker, and more physical. Each track feels meticulously forged, with every rhythm and texture serving a deliberate purpose. From the pulse of ‘The Cleansing‘ to the entrancing sway of ‘Nimbus‘, Shapeshifter demonstrates an artist in control of his craft.
Our pick is closing track and title piece, ‘Shapeshifter‘ – a hypnotic techno track that channels the alien precision of American producer Mike Parker, while grounding itself in ARTIFVCT’s distinctive organic minimalism. Built around tightly coiled rhythms and a serpentine low-end, it unfolds like a living organism, mutating with quiet confidence as waves of filtered percussion and warped frequencies rise from the shadows, continuously pulling the listener into its vortex.
With this release, Qilla Records once again reinforces its position at the forefront of India’s forward-thinking electronic underground. Shapeshifter is both an evolution of ARTIFVCT’s sonic language and a benchmark for modern deep techno – refined, immersive, and hypnotic.
‘Shapeshifter’ is scheduled for release 21st October via Qilla Records. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
