Following releases on FXHE, Planet-E, Beretta Music and Deeplabs, Detroit-based house and techno producer Brian Kage gears up to release his debut album through his own label Michigander.
As one of the underground heroes of the Motor City, Kage splits his time between teaching the next generation of producers at Oakland University and conducting machine-made experiments in his sound lab. Spanning 19-tracks, ‘Timeless Times‘ is deeply rooted in the house and techno aesthetics of Detroit with contributions from eminent producers including Jon Dixon, OB Ignitt, Milton Jackson and Luke Hess.
‘Detroit Techno City‘ is our pick from the album. Kicking off with a floating, delicate techno groove, Kage drops bubbling synth pads and steamy basslines that erupt into RBJ’s Detroit-soaked rhapsody. It feels like an anthem dedicated to long-forgotten factories in the Mid-West, replete with nostalgia.
