Backspin Records return to the grid with their second release, a psychoacoustic dispatch from none other than London-based producer Cristian Varela.
Filing through the archives of Oaks, Chicago-based record label Elephanthaus and his own indelible Pornographic Recordings, Varela remains a neural architect of darkroom kinetics, bridging a mythos of Spanish rave lore with surgical percussive geometries that defy logic. ‘Supraconscience’ isn’t merely a record, it’s a zone of accelerated cognition, a document of techno as ritual.
Standout track is ‘JT07’ – an uncompromising 140 BPM pressure valve pried open with all the force of a hydraulic exorcism. Equal parts warehouse panic and spatial hallucination, the track dissolves ego in a matrix of synaptic FX, pitch-bent metallic synth pads and militarized drum programming.
