Premiere: Dead Sound – This Is Human

Originally an electronic music blog that was launched in 2008, Null+Void has been making tentative steps in the world of record label over the last couple of years. Its keen electro and techno focus comes as no surprise once you know it is helmed by Kirsti Weir, formerly of London nightclub Fabric and host of the monthly Null+Void radio show on Leeds’ KMAH station.

One of the main benefits of being in charge of your own label is the freedom to indulge in the odd passion project. In this instance, it is the ability to draft in an admired artist in the form of Manchester based Dead Sound. Usually found in the esteemed catalogues of Perc Trax and Decoy, he has stepped across to Null+Void with a versatile four tracker.

Sonically, the tracks live somewhere in the middle of the works by Carl Finlow and early Two Lone Swordsmen. Respecting, although not rigidly adhering to, an electro template, they wiggle towards breaks and IDM territories. However, for our premiere, we’ve picked up the title track. It is a no nonsense and heady techno workout, not a million miles away from the sort of free and thumping wares you’d hear Nina Kraviz rock out. If you’ve not been on the Null+Void bandwagon yet, this is a pretty good release to get stuck in.

This Is Human EP is scheduled for release 18th may 2018, pre-order a copy from Bandcamp.
