Locking in their fifth release, Singapore-based imprint Super Enjoy venture further into uncharted terrain with ‘Guided‘, the latest offering from label co-founder and producer Dexter Colt.
A long-standing purveyor of deep, dexterous club mutations – honed through his tenure at Singapore-based collective Darker Than Wax and recent outings on LA-based imprint Low Recordings – Colt expands his sound signature into an intricate transmission of dub techno meditations, Detroit-tinged house and crystalline ambient soundscapes. Translating ultra-wired memories into a lucid dream state, ‘Guided‘ maps out a dancefloor cosmology that exists somewhere between subconscious recollection and interplanetary drift.
Our pick from the release, ‘Eternal‘, submerges the listener in a vaporous swirl of steam-laden introspection. Space-echoed signals bounce off the walls of a dimension untethered by time, while Colt’s spectral synth textures snake through the haze- intertwining with FX-drenched dub techno structures to sculpt a mind-warping ascent into the unknown. It’s a shape-shifting cut that hovers on the precipice of reality.
