Emerging from the liminal haze of future nostalgia, American producer and vocalist Duanna unveils ‘Lona’ – a 5-track release where ambient, downtempo and avant-pop collide into a dewy-eyed dream.
Self-released yet bound by an unmistakable sense of cohesion, ‘Lona’ drifts through the uncanny beauty of digital lullabies and ethereal transmissions, a deeply human manifesto cloaked in synthetic atmospheres. Across its five tracks, Duanna sculpts a soundscape where the organic and the artificial blur, enlisting Maverick and John Kearny on ‘Ruins’ to further deepen its dreamlike synthesis.
Our pick is the opening track, ‘Harbor’ – a weightless plunge into liquid serenity, where spectral melodies ebb and flow like bioluminescent signals lost at sea. Bubbles rise through the mix, while distant echoes of whale-song-like synths form a womb-like cocoon, pulsating with quiet intensity. It’s a delicate meditation on solitude and movement, an invitation to drift along ever-shifting currents, where the line between dream and waking life dissolves in the tide.
‘Lona’ is scheduled for release 7 February. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
