For the inaugural chapter of their compilation series, New Delhi-based imprint Padmini assemble thirteen producers to capture the spirit of India’s late-night club culture – an audacious celebration of resistance through sound.
Showcasing a solid roster of producers, ‘Yaar–Dost | Vol. 01’ is an electrifying compilation fusing feverish breaks, fragmented juke, electro and the polyphonic textures of neo-Goa trance.
Featuring contributions from Bangalore’s visionary Oceantied, 8-Bit Culprit, OX7GEN, Scuffed’s mainstay Mutable Mercury, Mumbai’s tastemaker Zokhuma and many others, the compilation forms a constellation where each artist’s unique signature collides and converges.
Our pick for the premiere is ‘Amigo‘ from Film – a meditative piece of breaks that seems to have emerged from the depths of a long-forgotten, emerald-hued metropolis. Designed for the after-hour reveler, it seamlessly fuses dub-heavy basslines with intricately crafted drum patterns, spiraling into a vortex of a digitized monologue.
‘Yaar–Dost | vol. 01’ is scheduled for release 22 November via Padmini. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
