Rome-based 42 Records gear up to issue the 10-track album ‘Madre‘ from Go Dugong and Washé, blending buoyant ambient textures, mutant post-folk elements, trance-infused psychedelia and dazed-out downtempo rhythms.
Milan-based producer Go Dugong, renowned for his deep exploration of ancient rituals and the pursuit of transcendence, joined forces with Venezuelan artist Washé in 2022, aided by HAPE collective. Together, they venture into the uncharted memories of the Amazon rainforest, creating a distinctive soundtrack for lucid dreamers and wetlands spirits.
Our pick from the release is ‘Autana’ featuring Italian producer Khalab. Opening with evocative rainforest field recordings that mirror the intricate networks of synaptic mangroves, the track gradually expands into serene soundscapes of introspection, adorned with ethereal flutes and syncopated pads. It builds to a crescendo of bass-heavy chaos, showcasing intricately arranged drum rhythms interspersed with snippets of timeless human wisdom.
‘Madre’ is scheduled for release 8 November via 42 Records. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
