Months after the release of his ‘Subway Series‘ debut instalment in late 2018, New York-based producer Chris Hontos returns to BANK Records NYC with the second volume in his collection of rugged and harsh DJ-friendly chronicles, out May 3rd.
Initially known for his work in genre-bending outfits Dreamweapon, Food Pyramid and Beat Detectives, Hontos here delivers a batch of tracks cut and tailored for extended dancefloor use, with no other stated aim but to be played out loud in the club. And, as per usual with Hontos, this one’s got the laser pointer on your knees and mind in equal measure – sure to turn any set into an adrenaline-boosting epic.
Serving this purpose with optimal results, our pick – ‘A1‘ – chews coal and spits fire. A fiercely corrosive piece of non-linear, floor-destroying electronics to the core, Hontos’ basement melter harnesses a storm of dashing-and-slashing snares, swooshing blade noises, arrhythmic drum progs and barrages of noisey outbursts that shall unleash up to the most unruly of crowds’ ruckus-causing potential. Wild.
Subway Series Vol.2 is released via BANK Records NYC on May 3rd, pre-order a copy from Bandcamp.
